Reader x Sealand – Started with a Promise

Note:  Okay, while Sealand is an adorable little guy I think I kind of screwed up his character.  I’ll let you guys decide lol and I kind of went back and forth with this story, so I apologize if it’s not as good as the other chapters.

“Vell (Name)?  Is zhere anyvone you wish to stay vith?

“Umm… I honestly don’t even know who to pick.”

He nodded in agreement as did most of the other countries.  They couldn’t expect you to just choose someone at random, especially when you really only knew them from the anime.  They could all have different personalities for all you knew.  They could act differently then they… strike that; France, Prussia, and a cheerful Spain were giving you strange looks.

‘Note to self:  don’t choose them,’ you mentally noted.

You noticed that the countries had begun conversing amongst themselves to try to figure out who you would be staying with.  You didn’t really mind if they weren’t asking you personally about the decision, since you knew Germany wouldn’t let you go with Prussia or France.  At least you hoped he wouldn’t.

Out of the corner of you eye you noticed a small movement near the corner of the room.  Taking a glance in that direction, you barely caught the outline of a small boy.  He was wearing a sailor outfit along with a sailor hat.  Though you could barely see his face, you instantly recognized the thick, bushy eyebrows on his forehead.

Little Sealand had decided to sneak into the World Meeting.

He noticed you staring at him, and became frantic.  He made motions for you not to tell anyone that he was there and it almost made you laugh.  Luckily you hadn’t turned your head to face him as the other countries seemed to have come to a decision.  England coughed to get your attention, making you jump a little and lower your head in embarrassment.  The countries chuckled at you, a few noting that you looked cute with the red face.

“Sorry for startling you, love, but we came to a decision that you would be staying with me since I created this problem.  I hope that doesn’t bother you at all?”  he seemed sincere about asking you.

You were about to nod in agreement when all of a sudden someone landed on the table.  The countries gasped in shock as you recognized the person as Sealand.  What in the world was he doing?  He was going to get in trouble again.

“Hey, Jerkland!  Why don’t I have a say in any of this, huh?” Sealand shouted out.

He stood on the desk determined and looking like he stronger than he looked.  Everyone in the room groaned in annoyance at the boy’s actions as England stood up in anger.  Everytime Sealand snuck into the meetings he would always cause a disturbance and nothing would ever get done.  Though how anything usually go done you wouldn’t know.  Most of the time the countries always bickered.

“What are you doing here?!  I told you to stay home and watch anime!” England shouted at the poor boy.

Sealand just shrugged at him, “I’m a country, too!  Yet all you bullies do is leave me out of everything!”

“Sealand, you’re not a nation, dude,” America stated from behind Sealand.

“Shut it, you!  I’ll prove to you I am a good nation!”

With that he leapt off the table and darted straight towards you.  Before the countries knew what was going on, Sealand had grabbed your hand and literally pulled you out of the room.  You could hear the other nations scrambling behind the doors.  You struggled a little to keep up with the energetic boy, but while you were a bit uncertain about this, there was a small sense of excitement in running away.  Well not really running away, but getting kidnapped by a kid.

“S-Sealand!  Slow down!” you gasped out.

“No way!  If we slow down those blokes will catch up to us,” he shouted back, but you could clearly detect the excitement in his voice.

He sped through the building’s exit doors at the speed of light.  Once outside the night air attacked every part of you that wasn’t covered by your clothes.  It felt like a bunch of pins and needles were being tapped into your skin.  Your breath was visible in front of you, coming out as quick puffs.  You could suddenly smell the scent of the ocean, and quickly put together the sounds of waves.  Putting two and two together, you noted you were near the ocean.

And Sealand was leading you towards a cliff.

“W-What are you doing?” you screamed in fright, attempting to stop the boy.

“Come on!  It’s safe!  Trust me!”

You gave him a look of hesitance before closing your eyes and letting him pull you with him over the edge.  The wind rushed past you as you could feel yourself descending towards the freezing water below.  However, nothing came, and instead you found yourself standing on something very cold.  Cracking your eyes open, you looked down to see that you were standing on a metal platform.  Eyes fully open, you found yourself standing on a large oil platform.

“Sealand!”  You hear England’s voice call out from above you.  You looked up to see him and the other countries standing at the edge of the cliff.  “Stop acting like a child and bring (Name) back!”

“Only if you acknowledge me as a country!” Sealand called back defiantly.

“No!”

“Then goodbye you big bully!”

After those words left Sealand’s mouth, the oil platform began to quickly move away from the cliff.  The nations called out to you but their words were quickly lost to the wind.  You had almost forgotten that Sealand somehow had the ability to move the platform when he wanted.  However, the movement created a large wind tunnel across the top of the platform, and you began to feel beyond freezing.

“Hahahaha!  Take that!  Wasn’t that fun (N-….ame)?” Sealand began to ask, but stopped when he noticed you hunched over form.

Your teeth were chattering so quickly it felt like they would crack, and your knees were twitching so much you had to kneel down.  Your once flush skin was now a pale white, and in some places was turning slightly blue.

Sealand began to panic and quickly called over one of the few people who stayed on the platform.  Thankfully it was a woman and she quickly made hate to take you inside the center of the platform under the landing.  She told Sealand to stay out while she began to change your clothes.  She made you put on a thick shirt and pants before putting on a jacket.  You felt warmer already, but the warmth was now making you very drowsy.

Once you were in warmer clothing, Sealand came into the room and the women took you to one of the sleeping quarters.  You were then wrapped up into a heavy blanket and placed onto the mattress.  You barely recalled anything that happened after being placed onto the soft mattress.  Everything was a blur after that, and you could barely recall someone sitting on the mattress next to you.

--------Sealand’s POV---------

(Name) lay on the mattress in a cocoon of blankets.  Her face was still pale, but she seemed to be much more comfortable than before.  How could I have forgotten that she wasn’t dressed for the cold ocean weather?

“I’m such a wanker!” I scolded myself”

I must have said that too loudly because the lady told me to be quite.  (Name) needed to rest and recover first.  Then I can make up for my mistakes.

‘And then I can show her how awesome of a nation I am!’ I cheered in my head.

I continued to watch her as she slept.  I wanted to make sure she was alright before I left the room.  She looked peaceful now that she was warm, and she had a faint smile on her lips.  Her (h/l), (h/c) framed her face as she laid on her back.  She seemed like a nice person, maybe we could both be friends!

Once I was sure she was alright, I jumped off the bed and left the room.  But just before I closed the door I let out a whisper for only her to hear.

“We are going to have so much fun!  I promise!”

-------Time Skip (1 year)-----------

A year had past since Peter had kidnapped you from the meeting.  While you were a bit afraid at first, you were more concerned about the boy.  You were worried how the other countries would scold or treat him if he ever showed his face at the meetings again.  The looks on their faces showed frustration, anger, and annoyance.  You knew that Peter was never truly accepted as a country, and most of the countries just ignored him most of the time.

Ever since he had stolen you away he kept you on the oil platform that he had claimed as his own.  What surprised you the most was that the minute he brought you onboard the platform took off, as if it weren’t attached to the sea floor.  He took you to remote places where he knew the other countries wouldn’t find you, but he made sure that you would like the places he took you to.  Any other country that had a coast Sealand whizzed by, stopping at each to let you enjoy the scenery.

You knew he was trying to impress you by showing you where all he could go and how good he was at certain things.  However, deep down you knew the reason he wanted all this attention was because he was lonely.  None of the other countries took him seriously, and this leads him to do drastic and rebellious actions.  Always getting into trouble, knowing that he would always get scolded, but in the end they paid attention to him.  Even if it was a lecture, he was just happy that he got the attention that the other nations denied him.

It broke your heart when you heard Peter crying in his sleep during your first month in this world.  When he was awake he was so determined, so strong, yet when night came his dreams haunted him.  You stayed with him during these nights, letting him lay his head on your lap and running your hands through his soft locks.  It soothed him asleep even though the gesture embarrassed him.  He told you to keep it a secret, not wanting the other countries to think he was weak.  You promised.

During the year he had been with you, you had become Peter’s best friend.  You watched anime with him and played games with him all the time.  You were like his other half.  You listened to him, helped him, and comforted him when the need arised.  You gave him advice on what he could do to prove himself to the other countries, and also grow into a powerful nation.  You acknowledged his existence as a nation.  You had quickly become someone he couldn’t live without.

And it scared you.

You had grown to care greatly for Peter, but you also knew that you would one day leave his side.  Whether it was to go back home or pass on, he would be alone again.  You would age, and he would still stay the same youthful young boy he was.

These thoughts had clouded your mind the past few days since Peter had moved the platform.  You had just left the coast of (country), and now your next destination was a mystery.  He had always told you he liked to surprise you, so you just went with the drift so to speak.

You leaned on one of the railings at the edge of the walkway, feeling the cool ocean breeze blow past your form.  Your (h/l) blew behind you as you watched the sun get swallowed by the sea.  The sky was painted in oranges, purples, and blues while the clouds were split between a yellow-orange and a shadowy purple.  It was a beautiful sunset.

Above you on top of one of the iron poles was Peter.  He was smiling and looking out into the sunset.  His gaze then fell to you and his smile dropped a little.  His mind began to wonder if you were truly happy being with him.  He kind of did force you to stay with him, and that wasn’t something any sort of friend would do.

Shaking his head of the thought, he nimbly descended back down to the flat level of the platform and approached you from the side.  Before he could speak up though he noticed your distance expression.  You looked deep in thought, and you had a look of longing on your face.

‘Am I keeping her from her family?  Is that why she’s sad?’ he pondered in his head.

Before he could answer his question, you turned your head to the side and smiled brightly at him.  That smile erased and doubts in his mind in an instant as he returned the smile.

“What’cha doing (Name)?” he asked innocently.

“Oh, hello Peter.  And nothing really.  Just thinking,” you stated, still gazing off to the sunset.

Your eyes betrayed you as Peter could see the longing in them.  In his eyes it looked like you didn’t want to be here, and that you’d rather be someplace else.  It hurt his feelings a bit…a lot.  You meant a lot to him.  You were his best friend, yet at the same time it felt like something more.  He couldn’t put his finger on it, but it felt like his heart hurt at the thought of you leaving him.

“Are you okay?  Is something wrong?” Peter asked worriedly.  “Why don’t we go play some games or watch another movie?”

“Haha nothing’s wrong, Peter.  Honest.  And sure.  This time I’ll beat you for sure!” you gave a small fist pump and determination.

“Never!~” he shouted back as he took off towards the living quarters.

However, before either of you could make it 5 steps, the sound of a helicopter stopped you in your tracks, and soon enough it landed atop the landing site.  You both looked at each other confused before making your way to the top of the platform.  As soon as the copter’s doors opened, you both gasped at ho it was.

Arthur stepped out of the copter in his formal attire, and you could tell by the look on his face that he meant business.  Peter didn’t seem like he was scared at Arthur’s serious expression at all, and just seemed to get a little annoyed.

“What are you doing here, Wanker?”

Arthur’s eyes turned dangerous and he motioned for someone to come out of the helicopter.  Two men that looked to be policeman came out and over to the two of you.  One grabbed Peter and restrained him while the other gently took your arm and brought you over to Arthur.  Arthur’s gaze met yours and you could see them soften.

“I’m here to collect (Name).  It’s time she returned to her own world, Peter.  You’ve had your fun, but the time for games is over,” he bluntly stated.

“You English bastard!  Why do you always take everything away from me?” Peter shouted as he began to resist the men’s grasp.

Your eyes widened in shock.  You were going to be sent home?  But what about Peter?  Were the other countries just gonna treat him the way they always did?  Peter needed the support and guidance you shared with him, and he needed to not be alone anymore.

“Arthur wait!” you spoke up.  Arthur turned a confused eye towards and motioned for you to continue.  “Why can’t I stay here with Peter?”

Your question seemed to shock Arthur a bit, but it quickly went away.  He began to draw the circle right then and there.

“(Name), you were never meant to come into this world.  To repair the bond between our worlds you need to return.  There’s no other way.  I’m sorry, but this is the way it must be.”

You watched Arthur finish the circle with tears streaming down your face.  Arthur looked sadly at you as he had the men place you in the center.  You couldn’t believe that he was doing this.  You struggled against the man holding you, but he was far stronger than you were.  He held you tightly as Arthur began to read the scroll he brought.

Peter’s cries could be heard from behind you.  He sounded desperate and broken.  It broke your heart to hear him like this, but you couldn’t do a thing as the white light of the spell glowed under your feet.  You felt yourself falling, but before you went through you shouted at Arthur with anger in your voice.

“Give him a chance Arthur!”

And with that… you were gone.

You fell through the dimensional hole that Arthur had opened up, feeling nothing but betrayal and sadness.  You didn’t want to go back to your home.  You wanted to be with Peter.  You soon landed on a soft mattress, and even though it had been a year, you knew it was yours.  Your room looked the same as it had the night you had left.

“(Name)?  Are you still up this late at night?” your mother’s voice came accusingly.

The day had never changed.

It was like you never left.

You quickly laid yourself down on the bed and pretended to be asleep.  Your mother opened the door and after a moment closed it again.  Once she left, you let your tears flow freely down your cheeks once more.  There would be no more adventures, no more fun, and no more Peter.

That night you cried yourself to sleep.

------Another Time Skip (1 month)------

An entire month went by after you were forcefully sent back home.  An entire month’s worth of crying and depression.  You barely left your room at all unless it was for food, school, or necessities.  You became similar to that of a zombie.  You had tried to get over the year you had spent in the Hetalia world, but no matter what you did or how hard you tried, the memories wouldn’t leave.

“(Name)?  Sweetie?” your mother’s voice came from your door.  “You’ve been locked away in the room for over a month now.  You need to get out and get a life.”

Her statement was gentle, but at the same time very blunt.  Yeah, you didn’t have a social life anymore since you had begun to ignore phone calls and texts.  Your friends had started giving up at about the third week.

“I know mom, but I really don’t feel like it,” you mumbled back.

She looked like she wanted to say something, but seemed to decide against it as she silently left the room.  You were left once again to your misery.  Your body felt like lead and you felt no desire nor the will to do anything.  All the fun had left when you were sent back.

The day sped on as you sat there staring out your window.  That is until you heard something enter your room.  You slowly turned you head with disinterest and gasped at the sight in front of you.  Arthur was there in the flesh, and yet he seemed very distraught.  Once he locked eyes with you he reached out to take your hand but you flinched away.

“What are you doing here?” you growled out, feeling all the buried anger you had for him come back to the surface.

“You have to come back with me.  Please!” He practically begged you.

You looked at him in confusion, “Why do you want me to go back so badly when you were so determined to make me leave?”

“It’s Peter.  He hasn’t been himself and he’s fading!”

“Fading?  What do you mean?!”

“Ever since you left he’s secluded himself from everyone.  Especially me,” you gave him a ‘no duh’ look before he continued.  “Look, he needs you right now.”

“And what?  After I help him you’ll send me back?  Arthur , can’t you see that even though he was rebellious he looked up to you?  And you just shut him out!  I’ll come back to help Peter, but this time I’m staying permanently.”

He visibly went ridged at what you stated about Peter.  However he went to protest against your proposition, but you gave him a deadly glare.

“*Sigh* Alright!”

He grabbed your arm and pulled you through the portal.  After you opened your eyes again, you noticed you had appeared on Peter’s oil platform.  Arthur was nowhere in sight, but you could hear the sounds of sniffling coming from above you.  Looking up your eyes met the crying form of Peter, who was sitting at the edge of the landing platform.  However, his form was more transparent, and it looked like he was truly fading.  It was then you noticed the state of the platform around you.  Everyone was down and the platform itself was rusting, as if no one was taking care of it.

Without wasting a second, you bolted up the platform stairs and straight towards Peter.  He had glanced solemnly at you for a second before you threw your arms around the boy.  He gasped in shock as your arms gripped him even tighter.  You were surprised you hadn’t passed through him.

“(N-Name)?” he’s asked in almost a whisper.

“Peter!  Snap out of it!” you cried out.

His tears seemed to increase, but you could see his body becoming more solidified.  His arms shot around you as he now cried tears of joy.  He was beyond happy that you were back.  The one person who truly cared and acknowledged his existence.  The one he cared for the most.

“You’re back.  You’re really back!”

“Yes, Peter.  I’m back.  And this time for good.  I promise,” you swore to him.

He nodded into your shirt as his hands clutched at your back.  You both stayed like that for longer than could remember.  By the time you guys broke apart the morning sun was just breaking the horizon.  Peter finally pulled away and was looking much better than before.  He even had the biggest smile on his face you had ever seen.

“H-how did you get back?”

“Arthur brought me back.”

“Wait, that English bastard brought you back?”

“Yes.  I think he cares about you, but just is too stubborn to show it,” you giggled out.  “I’m still mad at him for sending me back home though.”

Peter brought his arms around you again in a bone crushing hug.

“P-Peter!  Can’t…breathe!”

“S-Sorry.  I’m just so happy right now,” he sniffed out.  You felt his arms loosen just enough to not hurt you.

“It’s okay, Peter.  I won’t leave,” you soothed him rubbing small circles on his back.

He then suddenly pulled away from you.  You gave him a sweet smile, but then your eyes went as wide as saucers.  He had lunged forward towards you and his lips were now pressed roughly against yours.  Your face turned beat red and you couldn’t even move a muscle.  This had to be at spur of the moment thing from when he pulled away his face turned deep red too.

“I-I’m so sorry!  I just acted without thinking!  I swear!”

His flustered face was beyond cute, but the age difference between you two, even though he was a country, was a large gap.  As much as you wanted this to be, you knew it wasn’t something that should happen now.  You gently smiled at him and cupped his cheek.  His cheeks turned redder than you thought possible as he stared at you.  He closed his eyes expecting you to slap him or cold him, but you just brought him into a soothing hug.

“I’m not mad, Peter.  But I don’t think this is the right time for something like that.”

“So…You don’t feel the same?”

“I won’t lie.  I do, but I think you, we, need to wait until you become a full-fledge Country.”

He seemed sad about that, but quickly had an attitude change.  He instantly perked up at your suggestion and stood up with his hands on his hips.

“Then it’s a promise!”

Your confused face turned into one of admiration.  The boy you had known for only a year had already taken the first step to becoming a country.  And the fun and adventures had only just begun.

Not long after that, maybe a few weeks, Peter had received a package for you from Arthur.  It was a strange vial, and the only words on the card read ‘Just drink it’.  Without a second thought you had downed the contents.  Peter hadn’t trusted it, but after you read another card in the box you were glad you did.  You could now always be with Peter as he strived to become a powerful nation without worry of time.

And this was an eternal promise.

Extended Ending~

It had been decades since you had begun permanently living in the Hetalia world.  You had lost count as the days flew by.  Peter had gone to a World Meeting with the other countries.  What was more surprising though, was the fact that the other countries required him to be there.  It made you wonder just what exactly was going on.

You sat near the edge of the oil platform, anxiously awaiting Peter’s return from the conference.  He had once again placed the oil platform near the cliff at the same conference building you first met.  However, when he did return you didn’t know what to think.  The man in front of you looked similar to Arthur, but had a more childish and carefree air about him.  He wore a light blue suit and his hair was still the same length, if not a tad bit longer.  He looked to be about 20 years old at least.

“(Name)!  Did’ja miss me?” the man asked, almost as if he knew you.

“Um….Who are you?”

The man visibly became shocked at those words, but soon an energetic smile graced his lips.

“It’s me!  Peter!  I finally got acknowledged as a nation!”

“Peter?  Is that really you?”

He nodded enthusiastically, and you knew just by those all too familiar bushy eyebrows that it was him.  Your eyes began to water as you smiled at him.  You ran up to him and threw your arms around him as he caught you.  He spun you around in circles a couple times before setting you back down on your feet.  His gaze went to your lips a couple times before he gulped and asked you a question.

“Can we keep our promise now?  Is it okay if I…” he trailed off.

You smiled and brought your lips to his.  He melted into it immediately and wrapped his arms tightly around your waist.  His dream had come true, and the promise was kept.  Nothing in the world mattered in this moment.  He broke away from you and stared into your eyes with a look of excitement.

"I finally became a nation!"

"Yes, Peter.  You most certainly did.  And I'm so proud of you."

All that mattered was the promise you had both made to each other.

The End~
Okay finally got him out.  As always I apologize if he was a little OOC.  I'm kind of now doing all the characters I'm not too familiar with, so it makes writing these stories just a little bit harder.  I welcome all comments :) just no bad ones please.

Enjoyed the story.

I noticed a spelling error: "she quickly made hate to take you" - that should be "haste" not "hate".
