Reader x Scotland – A Song on the Wind

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Note:  Please read description please and also if you haven’t read the intro.  Also, this is my first Scotland fanfic, so if he’s OOC I’m sorry.  I kinda had a lttle trouble with him, but hopefully it’s ok.  One last thing, I noticed a few different spellings of his name but didn’t know which one was correct, so I just chose one of them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Vell (Name) vhat do you vant to do?” Germany asked.

“Um…” you mumbled and began to look around the room at the vsrious nations.

How did he expect you to be able to decide?  You wanted to go with them all, but you couldn’t.  Each country had a hopeful look on their faces or in their eyes that you would choose them, but each hopeful stare sent pain through your heart.

After a few moments, England’s voice cut through your thoughts.

“If you can’t decide, love, you can stay with me since this is my fault in the first place.”

“What?! No way she is totally gonna stay with the hero!” America gasped in shock.

“You cant even take care of yourself you git!”

And so the bickering started.  They were really going at it while the other countries just stared at them in annoyance.  After a few minutes it had gotten to the point where they were bringing up the Revolution until someone finally spoke up and broke to tension.

“Why can’t ye just let the lass decide?”

Both America and England fell silent as they looked to the source of the voice in the corner of the room.  You followed their gaze and were now looking at a frustrated Scotland.  He was leaning against the back corner wall with a cigar sitting loosely in his mouth and his arms crossed.  His shaggy, fire red hair went in all directions while his green eyes were half glaring at the two nations.

He was wearing a casual outfit with jeans and a green vest over a white shirt.  It slightly surprised you he wasn’t wearing a kilt, but you weren’t complaining.

England’s expression goes from surprised to a scowl as he then addresses Scotland.

“I’m not about to let a lady like her stay with this git, let alone someone like you.”

“Says the man who can’t even hold his own liquor.  I’m not sure even you can take proper care of the lass,” Scotland teased as England’s face turned beat red with both anger and ebarrassment.

“I’d like to see you even try to take care of her, you drunken, bloody wanker.”

Scotland frown grew as he then put out his cigar and walked up to England till they were about a foot apart.  Scotland was a little taller than England, but that didn’t deter him in the slightest.  They stared at each other, willing the other to back down, but neither made a move to back away.

‘Ok, I need to decide since this looks like it’s going to get out of control,’ you concluded.

“C-Can I please decide on my own who I stay with, so you don’t have to fight with each other?”  You stuttered at first but the last part came out sternly.

Scotland looked at you and smirked, clearly happy that you spoke up for yourself.  He then backed away from England, who seemed slightly shocked that he had backed down, and motioned for you to make your choice.

Nodding you closed your eyes and began to think on who you wanted to go with.  You thought about how England said Scotland couldn’t take care of you.  You felt slightly annoyed at this and thought about giving the Scotsman a chance to prove his brother wrong.

Opening your eyes, decision reflecting behind them, your then face back to Scotland.  He has curious look on his face, but you just speak your answer.

“I wish to stay with Scotland.”

“What???  You have to be bloody joking!” England yelled out in confusion and disbelief while Scotland just stood there with his eyes widened.

You gave a small smile and looked to Grermany to say something.  He seemed to notice and cleared his throat before addressing the room.

“Ok, (Name) decided this on her own, so we should respect her decision.  England, while she is with Scotland I expect you to vork on zhe spell to send her home.”

“Don’t worry, I plan on getting that spell done as soon as I can, so she doesn’t have to deal with him for long.”

Germany just nodded, but Scotland looked like he wanted to strangle his brother.  All you could really do was watch as Germany gave out instructions for everyone before adjourning the meeting.  Everyone began to pack up their things to leave, but England seemed intent on staying after everyone left to speak with you.

After the last person left the room, leaving you, Scotland, and England alone, England made his way over to you.

“I don’t understand why you chose to stay with this git, but I’ll respect your decision.  I’ll try to recreate the spell to send you home as quickly as I’m able.”

“Thank you, England,” giving him a smile that made him slightly blush and head out of the room, but not before sending a warning glare at Scotland who just chuckled.

Once he left, Scotland came up to you and offered his hand to help you up.  You took it with a silent ‘thanks’ and he began to walk out the door, leaving you to follow after him.  You didn’t have much trouble keeping up, but the Scotsman kept muttering to himself and it made you curious.

What was on his mind?

You both soon got to his car and he opened the passenger door for you to get in.  Once you were in he closed the door and got in on the driver’s side.  The engine revved to life and he began driving to his home.

Even though it was dark outside, the hills and meadows along the road were lush with greenery.  From your peripheral, you could see Scotland glancing at you with an expression that you couldn’t make out.  You turned to face him only for him to turn his eyes back to the road quickly, hoping you didn’t see him looking at you.

You internally giggled at how he was acting.

“Why do you keep looking at me?” you asked, trying to keep your laughter at bay.

“I wasn’t looking at you.”

“Oh, yes you were.  I saw you.”

“Ugh, fine.  I’m trying to figure out why ye even chose me in the first place.  If what ye said was true and ya know about all of us, ye should know that all of the things my brother said about me is partially true.”

‘He gave in quicker than I thought.’

“If you think I’m pitying you, I’m not.  I just thought it would be nice to give you a chance to prove your brother wrong.” You stated in a slight serious tone.

His eyes widened at you statement and something seemed to go through his eyes, but as quick as it came it was gone.

“Ye are one strange lassie.”

You just smiled and cuddled back down into the seat and glued your eyes out the window.

After about 20 minutes, you arrived at his home, well more like a half mansion.  It sat on a hill by itself, but was surrounded by forests and meadows.  You got out of the car and breathed in a lungful of clean, fresh night air.  The stars in the sky were more abundant here than where you lived since all the city lights blotted them out.

“Come on lassie before you catch a cold,” Scotland’s voice cut through you trance.

“A-Alright.” You said before yawning.

You feet had begun to grow heavy and so were your eyes as sleep hastily caught up to you.  You started walking to where he stood but once you got to the porch steps your legs buckled under you and you yelped in shock.

Luckily before your face hit the ground, Scotland caught you and held you back up with an arm around your shoulder.

“S-Sorry, I didn’t think I was this tired.”

He just looked at you and suddenly picked you up bridal style and walked into the house.  You on the other hand were shocked and struggled in his hold.

“I-I can walk by myself, please put me down.”

“So you can fell back down?  I don’t think so lass.  Let me just take ye to the guest room so you can get some shut eye.”

Knowing full well arguing would get you nowhere; you relaxed slightly in his grip as he continued to walk upstairs to the room.  He walked through the door and set you down gently making sure you wouldn’t fall back down.

“Thank you.”

“No problem.  Now get some sleep.”

“I will, good night.”

“G’night.”

He left the room, closing the door behind him, leaving you alone in the silent room.  You began to look around the room at all the decorations, but soon exhaustion hit you once again.

Yawning, you fell onto the bed and pulling the covers over your tired form.  Closing your eyes, you fell into a restless sleep as a restless Scotsman paced downstairs.

-------------------Scotland’s POV-----------------

I kept pacing back and forth in the living room.  I couldn’t figure out what to make of this situation.  Sure I said the lass had the right to choose who she went with, but I never figured she would choose me of all people.  And did she really mean what she said?  About giving me a chance to prove myself to my brothers, or was she really just pitying me?

Growling to myself, I brought my hand to the back of my head and scratched it.

“Ugh, my head hurts too much to be thinking about this.  I need to get some sleep and I’ll think about it tomorrow.”

I made my way upstairs and walked down the hall past (Name)’s room, but stopped short when I heard a noise come from the other side.  I went back and silently opened the door and saw her shifting under the comforters; her eyes squeezed shut and face scrunched in pain.  I quickly went over to her and put a hand on her cheek, rubbing my thumb softly against it and whispering nothings to her.

After a minute or so she calmed down and her breathing began even again.

“Had a nightmare did ye now?” I whispered and felt a small smile tug at my lips at her now peaceful form.

Sighing, I got up and left her room when I knew she was sound asleep, and headed to my room.  Along the way something inside my chest burned and I couldn’t get the feeling to go away.  The best way I could describe it was a longing to stay with her and protect her from whatever was giving her nightmares.

“Maybe, just maybe you could be that one person who will stay with me and not judge me,” was all I whispered into the night as walked into my room.

------------------------Time Skip (2 months)-------------------------------

It had now been 2 months since you began to live with Allistor, and they were some of the most instable weeks you had ever been through.  Some days were peaceful where you would lay in the meadow when Allistor was away, probably at the pub again.  He would always go to the pub when something was on his mind, or when he just wanted to get away from the world.  Others were a bit chaotic when he would come back home drunk.  His already short temper was even shorter and you just chose to stay away during this time.

Even though he was like this, he made sure to make you comfortable and take you places you wanted to go without complaint.  You could tell he enjoyed your company though he never said anything.  He cared a lot for you and wanted to make you happy, always going out of his way to make you smile.

In truth you developed feelings for him, but these feelings were constantly being put to the test with his attitudes.  He had his happy side and his angry side, though you saw a bit more of he angry side more often.  That didn’t stop you from looking past that and being able to see that he truly cared about his brothers and you.  You know many people judged him from his habits and stubborn personality, but behind it was a soft caring side.  You just had to be patient with him to be able to see it.

By the end of the first month he had become protective of you, not wanting you to go out alone, which you did anyway when he was away.

You were currently laying down in the tall grass humming a tune from one of your favorite songs as the winds blew the melody along with it.  The birds chirped happily along and the rustle of grass and trees added to it.  You had been out here whistling and singing for a couple hours you estimated.

“You have a pretty voice, lassie,” a voice spoke up from behind you making you jump slightly.

You leaned you head further back and saw Allistor walking up to you.  He stopped about a foot away from your head and looked down at you with his fiery green eyes.  He had his usually grin on and had a cigar in his mouth as per usual.

Your nose scrunched at the smell of the smoke and you closed your eyes in annoyance.

“Do you really have to smoke those?  They’re bad for you for one and two they smell really bad.”

He just shrugged and blew a puff of smoke at you as if to tease you.  Coughing you sat up and turned to send a glare at him, which he only chuckled.  He then came to your right side and plopped down next to you, but surprisingly put out the cigar.

He then unexpectedly brought his hands to your sides and began to tickle you, causing you to laugh hysterically.  You kept yelling at him to stop, but couldn’t get your voice to sound demanding.  He continued this for a minute or so before releasing you and smiling down at your adorable expression.  He loved your smile and laughter.  It sounded like an angel’s voice and somehow it made his heart flutter and feel warm.

Slowly, you sat back up and caught your breath, playfully punching him in the shoulder a few times, sat there with him looking over the landscape. You both sat there for a few minutes as the breezes blew by until Allistor began to shift around.

“Something wrong Scottie?”

“Naw, I was just wondering something.”

“What were you ‘wondering’ about?”

“Do you think ye could…I don’t know.  Um, sing fer me?  Yer voice is really beautiful.”

Your cheeks started to burn up and butterflies began to flutter in your stomach.  You never really sang in front of anyone before even those who you knew well (If you do sorry X3 lol).

You cleared your throat and tried to calm down.

“W-What would you want me to sing?”

“Anything ye want.”

“Ah~ come on there has to be something you want me to sing.”

He stayed silent and you sighed in defeat.  Your brain began to think of songs you could sing and one popped into your head.  It was from one of your favorite movies and you thought that he might enjoy it.

Taking a deep breath to both calm and prepare yourself, you began singing the song.

When cold winds are calling,
And the sky is clear and bright,
Misty mountains sing and beckon,
Lead me out into the light.

I will ride, I will fly,
Chase the wind and touch the sky,
I will fly,
Chase the wind and touch the sky.

You took a peek at Allistor to see him looking at you in awe.  Your cheeks flushed darker and you continued singing, letting the notes flow and carry with the wind as you sang your heart out.

Where dark woods hide secrets,
And mountains are fierce and bold,
Deep waters hold reflections,
Of times lost long ago.

I will hear their every story,
Take hold of my own dream,
Be as strong as the seas are stormy,
And proud as an eagle's scream.

I will ride, I will fly,
Chase the wind and touch the sky,
I will fly,
Chase the wind and touch the sky.

And touch the sky.

Chase the wind, chase the wind.

Touch the sky.

You let the last note softly fade away from your voice and closed your eyes to sigh in relief.  Singing was the one thing you loved and it set your mind at ease.  You lay there only for a moment before you heard Allistor shift in the grass.  You opened your eyes to notice he had moved closer to you as he then pulled you into a tight hug.  One of his hands on your back while the other ran itself through your hair.

You froze where you were, limbs refusing to move as your brain tried to put together what was happening.  You could feel his warm breath hit your neck and it sent small shivers down your spine.

He pulled away after a few moments to look into your (e/c) eyes before he started to slowly lean in closer to you.  You also began to gravitate towards him and your eyes started to close.

BEEP!

A sudden car horn broke you out of the trance and you looked back to the house to see Arthur getting out of his car.  Even from where you sat you could tell he looked slightly irritated, and he was partially stomping over to where you and Allistor sat.

“What the bloody hell do you think you’re doing to (Name)?”  He asked with slight venom in his voice.

“Arthur?!  What are you doing here?” you asked surprised while holding back a now furious Scotsman.

“I finished the spell to send you home, but when I came here I find my brother flirting with you,” he half growled, glaring daggers at his older brother.

“What if the lass does nae want te go back?”  Allistor growled, his accent becoming thicker with his anger.

Arthur looked to him with an expression you could barely read.  It was a look of doubt and distrust, but behind it was what looked like curiosity.  He then turned his gaze to you and asked you with respect.

“Do you really wish to stay with him?”

You looked to Allistor’s longing face back to Arthur’s and gave him a genuine smile.

“I want to stay with Allistor.”

Arthur’s thick eyebrows rose up in shock and his emerald eyes widened, but looked to Allistor with a look of astonishment.  His eyes softened and he looked to his brother with a bit of pride and shook his head.  He then went over a patted his shoulder, muttering something under his breath that you didn’t catch, and left for his car.

After he drove away you looked to Allistor who had on a victorious smirk.  You giggled and wrapped your arms around his waist in a big hug, which he eagerly returned.

“What did Arthur tell you anyway?”

“I’ll tell ye later, but even I have to ask ya; why? What made ya chose to stay with me?”

“Because behind that mask everyone judges you by is a big softy who truly cares about me, and will do anything to make me happy and smile.”

His cheeks began to turn red, but before you could tease him about it pulled you into a headlock and began to give you a noogie.  You thrashed around in his grip half laughing, half screaming until he let you go only to bring you back into a bear hug with your back to him.  He nuzzled into your neck and you giggled.

“Ye know, we never did get to finish something earlier.”

“And what would that be?”

He turned you to face him and he had on a mischievous grin on his face.  He looked from your eyes to your lips and back, silently asking permission.  You gave a subtle nod and his grin widened.

“Now where were we?”  He asked in a low seductive voice, and lowered his soft lips to meet with yours in a loving kiss.

You blushed but eagerly returned the kiss.  Melting into it quickly as the world around you drifted away with the wind.  His lips were so soft and gentle it was like he was afraid you would break.  He tasted a little bit like his cigar, but for once you didn’t mind and just let yourself melt.  He pulled you closer and deepened the already heated kiss, letting all the feelings he had grown for you pour out into the kiss.

The kiss lasted a bit over a minute until Allistor pulled away first.  You both panted heavily while keeping gaze locked onto each other’s eyes.

“I love ye, (Name),” he whispered while looking lovingly into your deep (e/c) eyes.

“I love you, too.”

With that he picked you up and twirled you around in the air while you squealed and laughed with him in unison.  The wind blowing around you as if to show you it was happy as well, lifting up flowers and leaves to dance around your happy forms.

The End~
Ok after a ton of writer's blocks I finally got this done lol. Though I will say Scotland was hard to write for me. I couldn't quite get his personality down right and each story I had for him didn't seem to match. I finally came up with this, so I'm hoping you all like, and if not I'm sorry >.<

Also, the second I posted this fanfic I got 9 comments from 9 different people advertising things.... If you are one of these people please don't do this again...

Hetalia belongs to Himaruya
Song belongs to Pixar
Story belongs to me
