“Vell (name), vhat do you vant to do?”  Germany asked, and you began to let your gaze drift around the room.

A sudden purple aura began to radiate from the other side of the meeting table.  You followed its source to none other than Russia.  He had on a smile, but the aura radiating from him said otherwise, like he was telling the other countries to stay silent.

“She will come to mother Russia, da?”  He stated simply.

Your eyes widened a little, but you were still unsure you wanted to stay with him.  Mainly because you felt a death glare coming from the door into the conference room, you took a quick peek in that direction.  Glaring at you from a crack in the door was none other than Belarus.

You knew how possessive, not to mention obsessive, she was with her brother, and she would regularly scare off or threaten anyone who even got near him.

Gulping down your fear, you managed to stay calm and not show how scared you were at that moment.  Glancing back to the table, everyone in the room was now looking at you with worry, fear, and uncertainty.  Russia was still smiling at you with his eyes still closed, patiently waiting for you to give your answer, but you doubted you had a choice in the matter.  His purple aura had receded a bit.

Taking a deep breath and gathering all your courage you gave a soft, yet commanding answer.

“I’ll stay with Russia.”

Some of the other countries gasped while others were too shocked to voice it, but none said anything for fear of angering the Russian.

Germany, who had sweat beading his face and his eyes filled with slight fear, cleared his throat to snap everyone out of their trance.

“Vell, if zhis is vhat you vant to do, madchen, I vont stop you.  However, if anyzhing bad happens let us know and ve vill help vith vhat we can.”

You nodded, but soon notice the glare from Belarus had gotten deadlier and almost burned a hole through your head.

“England, you vill focus on making zhe spell to send her home, and you had better do it or I vill send France over.”

England paled and nodded quickly to show he got his point.  You slightly giggled at this, but he seemed to notice and turned his head away with a small ‘hmph’ though you noticed a slight blush on his face.

“Ok, since I can see zhat ve vill not get much of anyzhing else done, this meeting is adjourned.  Come one Italy let’s head back home.”

“Ve~ ok Doitsu.  Bye bella!  It-a was nice to-a meet you.”  He said cheerfully, giving you one last hug before following Germany out the door.

Everyone else quickly packed their things and half ran out the door to avoid the Russian man who was still sitting in his seat.  England, however, dared to stay behind to talk to you.

“I’m sorry you have to stay with him, love, but I’ll try to get that spell done as soon as I can.  Also, a word of advice, don’t get too close to him and avoid being around him when Belarus is watching.  She will no doubt become extremely upset.”

“T-Thank you for the advice England.  I’ll do my best to stay out of trouble,” you whispered, giving him a small smile.

He just nodded and quickly headed out the door.  You sighed, this was going to be a long night.

“Ready to go to my home, da?”  Russia spoke up behind you.

You jumped slightly at his sudden appearance, and started to shake a little.  Although, you soon stopped when you noticed he no longer had the purple aura seeping from him, and looked up at him with you (e/c) eyes.

He gave you a sweet smile and held out his hand for you to take, which you gratefully took, and let him escort you out to his car.  You felt a glare coming from behind you as you approached the car, knowing full well Belarus was following behind.  Russia seemed to sense her presence as well since his smile had turned to a slight frown as he hurried you into the car and drove off.

The car was silent for about 10 minutes before Russia finally broke the silence.

“You don’t have to be afraid, sunflower.  I promise no harm will come to you.”  He stated calmly as he took a glance at your drowsy form.

He smiled more and chuckled.

“Go to sleep, my sunflower.  It is a long drive back home to mother Russia, and I wouldn’t want to you to lose any sleep.”

You nodded your head in understanding and slowly shut your eyes.  Somehow you felt he was telling the truth and you didn’t feel scared anymore.  The darkness closed in and you let it overcome you as you fell asleep.

--------Russia’s POV-------

After a few minutes I glanced back at (name) and saw that she had indeed fallen asleep.  She looked so peaceful in her sleep, but what I liked the most was that she didn’t seem to be afraid of me like the other nations were.

“Пожалуйста, не убегай, мой подсолнечника. Я обещаю всегда защищать тебя.” I whispered to her softly, and looked back to the road.

It was a four-hour drive and the sun was now beginning to rise in the horizon.  I pulled the car into the driveway and slipped out the car to walk over to (name’s) side.  Gently, I picked her up and carried her towards the door.

She was as light as one of my sunflowers, and her face was even more precious than one.

I opened the door to find the Baltics conversing with each other, but quickly stopped and started shaking when they spotted me walking towards them.

“Ah R-Russia, you went to a meeting today, right?  D-Did it go alright?”  Lithuania stuttered out.

“R-Russia I-I’m glad you a-are back and s-safe. I was worried that the o-other nations would call you a drunk,” Latvia also stuttered out.

“Latvia!!!”  Estonia and Lithuania cried out in a panic.

Why were they so afraid?  Latvia is just worried about me.  No need for them to get scared.

“Da, and I need you three to make the guestroom for (name).”

“R-Right away Russia!” they shouted and ran off towards the room.

I stood there for a few minutes while they quickly made the room as if their lives depended on it.  They came running out saying it was done then went off to another part of the mansion.

I went in and laid (name) onto the bed gently to not wake her up.  I let my hand stroke her hair once and it felt so soft.  She let out a sigh in her sleep and I decided I should let her sleep.

“Спокойной ночи, мой подсолнечника. спи хорошо.” I whispered into her ear and left her room.

I walked out the door and closed it behind me only to look to my left down the hallway and see my sister Belarus peeking around the corner.

“Big brother, big brother, big brother.  Marry me~, marry me~,”

“Ahh!! Go away, go away, go away,” I yelled and ran towards my room.

-----------------------Time skip (8 months)-------------------------

It had now been eight months since you first moved into Russia’s home and you had gotten used to things, especially the cold climate.  The first month you had to have at least 4 layers, if not another, to keep yourself warm when you traveled outside.  You loved the snow though, and you would almost always be making snow angels or having snowball fights with the Baltics when Russia wasn’t there.

Russia had kept his word and kept you out of harms way from everything, but the one of the things he couldn’t protect you from most of the time was Belarus.  She stalked you around the mansion, making sure you weren’t getting too close to her brother.  She even came up to you one time and threatened you with one of her knives to stay away from him till you were sent home.

You had managed to stay on Belarus’ good side for the last 3 months to the point she wouldn’t follow you.  She even seemed to allow you to speak with Russia without glaring at you.

However, you knew this wouldn’t last long because during your eight-month stay, you had grown close to the giant Russian man.  He always helped you, treated you like you were family, and got you anything you desired.  You were never intimidated by his seemingly dark aura and didn’t cower in fear at the sight of him.

However, during these eight months, you wondered whatever happened to England making the spell to send you home.  It shouldn't have taken this long to make it surely, but you later found out from the Baltics that he was too afraid to come near the house.  You internally laughed at that, but you weren't mad at him since you had chosen to stay in this world.

You were now currently sitting in your room writing in your diary about the events that had pasted that day, and even added the fact that you were sure you loved Russia.  You were soon going to regret writing that in there as Belarus suddenly came through the door with a deep frown on her face.

You sat up straight, slightly quivering in fear, closed your diary and faced her.

“N-Natalia what’s wrong?  Is something the matter?”

“Yes, something is wrong.  Why have you been watching my brother so closely, and following him around like a puppy?”  she demanded while glaring at you from narrow eyes.

‘I knew she would find out sooner or later,’ you told yourself, ‘I just wish it would have been later, but I can’t let her keep pushing me down.’

Taking a deep breath you stood up and faced her, looking directly into her cold eyes with your serious and unfaltering (e/c) ones.

“I like Ivan,” you stated firmly with no fear or hesitation in your voice.

Her eyes lit up with fire and her menacing aura exploded around the room.  If you hadn’t mustered up your courage, you would have went running from the room in fear, but stood your ground.

She narrowed her eyes even more in slight confusion.

Why weren’t you cowering before her or running away like you usually did?

She then pulled her knife from behind her back from seemingly out of nowhere and slowly walked towards you.  You continued to stand your ground and saw more confusion and, was that admiration, that went through her eyes.

You didn’t move an inch as she came upon you and continued to look her straight in the eye.  She then brought the knife up to your throat and glared even more, if that were possible.

“Stay away from my брат,” she threatened and pressed the knife harder onto your throat.

Taking a deep breath, but never losing the fire in your own eyes, you closed your eyes in concentration for a moment.  When you opened them they were filled with courage that seemed to shake Natalia’s confidence.

“No,” you voiced with authority, “I love your brother.  He was always there for me when I needed it.  I do not fear him like everyone else seems to, and he is my sun, my sunflower.”

Her eyes widened at your statement and the knife slowly lifted away from your throat.  Tears formed in her eyes, but you couldn’t tell if they were sad or happy tears because you couldn’t read her face.

She quickly wiped them away and turned away from you.

“I can see in your eyes that you truly love my brother.  I think you are the one that can truly make him happy.”

“Natalia…”

“Now go to him before I change my mind.  He’s in his sunflower garden.”  She yelled and ran out the room.

It pained your heart to see her like that, but you knew that she knew that she had to move on.

Wiping your own happy tears that had formed in your eyes, you made your way to the garden.

‘Thank you, Nataly.  I will never forget this’

After a few minutes, you came to the big double doors leading to the garden and silently opened to not startle Ivan.

It was the most beautiful garden you had seen.  It was filled with a variety of flowers, but the ones that stood out the most were the sunflowers Ivan spent everyday tending to.  Their rich yellow and orange leaves shone as bright as the sun as they stood tall and proud in the middle of the garden.

You slowly walked in and found Ivan tending to one of the sunflowers like you thought he would be, but stopped short when you heard him speaking to it.

“Why can’t I just tell her?  She is the only one who doesn’t run away and she has never been afraid of me.”

Was he talking about you?

“She is even more pretty than a sunflower and shines brighter than the sun in my eyes.  I just wish I had the courage to tell her I love her.”

Smiling, you walked over to him till you were a yard away without him noticing.  There were no butterflies in your stomach and you were no afraid of being rejected after hearing him say that.

“You could just tell me in person,” you suggested with a grin on your face.

He jumped at your voice and stood up.  A blush had made its way on his face and he seemed to not be able to look you in the eye.

“(N-Name) you startled me, and…you heard what I just said, da?”

You nodded cheerfully, not taking your eyes off him.  His blush deepened a little more and he then wrapped his arms around you, bringing you into a tight, but gentle hug.

“Я люблю тебя, my sunflower,” he whispered into your ear.

You hugged him back with all your might, burying your head into his chest.

“I love you too, Ivan.”

His grip tightened and he began to stroke your hair lovingly with one hand.  He then pulled away to look into your eyes for a moment before bringing his lips softly onto yours.  You closed your eyes and melted into the kiss instantly, feeling warmth spread throughout your body.  The feeling of his soft lips on yours was pure heaven.

You separated after a few minutes in need of air, and continued to look into his violet-blue eyes.  They were filled with wonder and love, but it was short lived when he glanced behind you and froze.’

Confused you looked behind you to see Natalia and Katyusha(Ukraine) standing near the door looking at you with smiles on their faces.  Katyusha was giving you a thumbs up and smiling happily at the two of you.  You were shocked that Natalia had a smile on her face since she usually was frowning around you.

“So you do love her, brother?”  Natalia asked with no emotion.

“D-Da.”

She sighed and gave her brother a genuine look.

“Then we are happy.  We were only worried that you were lonely and someone would use you.  Now we see that (name) loves you with all her heart, and you love her as well.”

“Yup.  I’m so happy for you little brother,” Katyusha said happily and they both walked out of the room to leave you two alone.

Ivan was stunned at how Natalia acted, but looked back to you with a genuine smile on his face and kissed you again which you gladly returned.

“(Name)?”

“Yes, Ivan?”

“Become one with Mother Russia, da?”

You blushed and gave a nod with a small smile on your face.  He then picked you up bridal style and headed into the house.

You had finally found the courage to tell Ivan how you felt, and stand up to Natalia.  You knew life could only get better from this moment forward, and you would gladly spend the rest of it with Ivan.
